Warner Bros. Pictures ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Los Angeles open casting calls

Dark Knight Rises Los Angeles Casting Call

“The Dark Knight Rises” hits theaters July 20, 2012.
AB Media Publishing, LLC

Note: “The Dark Knight Rises” has been using the working titles of “Magnus Rex” and “Fox Hills Green”. A working title is the temporary name of a film used during its development. Working titles are used primarily for two reasons – the first being that an official title has not yet been decided upon and the working title is being used as a filler for naming purposes, the second being to intentionally disguise the production of a high profile film. In some cases a working title may ultimately be used as the official title. This “title ruse” is now a very common practice by which these high-profile films or television series is given a fake working title to keep its production a secret, and to prevent price gouging by suppliers, casual theft and undesirable attention. It this case, I assure you that the title of this film will be “The Dark Knight Rises”.

The third and final installment in three-time Academy Award nominee Christopher Nolan’s Batman film series continues principal photography, and is headed back to tinseltown. The urban action adventure will be ripping through the streets of Los Angeles soon, and there will be an official open casting call for both union and non-union extras in late July.

Shooting on “The Dark Knight Rises” is currently taking place in Pittsburgh, Ohio and will wrap on August 21st, at which point the production will move to Los Angeles and film through October, 2011. Other previous shooting locations include Croyden, UK and Glasgow, Scotland.

Nolan will direct “The Dark Knight Rises” from a screenplay that he wrote with his brother Jonathan. Christopher Nolan is also co-owner (along with Academy Award winning producer Emma Thomas) of Syncopy, one of the production companies for “The Dark Knight Rises”.

Among the talent joining the cast are Academy Award nominated actors Liam Neeson and Anne Hathaway. Neeson plays Ra’s al Ghul, an Arabic doctor born hundreds of years ago who has set about to eradicate the entire human race from the planet. Anne Hathaway plays Catwoman, who was orphaned at a young age, forced to turn to prostitution, and eventually made a career as a successful thief. Similar to Batman, Catwoman has no superpowers, she’s just exceptionally well-trained in combat and well-equipped. She is a perennial love interest of Batman, although the two never settled into a stable romantic relationship.
