Casting call for Netflix feature film ‘Juanita’

The Netflix feature film “Juanita” is seeking all types of people to appear in the film as fully paid extras.

“Juanita” is based on the novel “Dancing on the Edge of the Roof” by Sheila Williams, and centers on Juanita Lewis, who is a hard-working African-American woman, living in Columbus, Ohio, and her kids are driving her crazy. Unable to tolerate their selfish determination to take her for granted every hour of every day, Juanita opts to do something for herself; she takes an impromptu vacation, heads into the mountains of Montana, and finds a new job, a new circle of friends, and most unexpectedly – a new love in the form of Jess Gardiner.

Starring in Juanita is Academy Award nominee Alfre Woodard as Juanita. Also starring in the film is Blair Underwood, Sam Hennings, Tsulan Cooper, and Kat Smith. Primetime Emmy Award nominee Clark Johnson is directing the film from an adapted screenplay written by Roderick Spencer. Producers are Stephanie Allain, Jason Michael Berman, and Melissa Jones.

Juanita Casting Call Details

The Netflix drama feature film “Juanita” is seeking people to work as extras in the Richmond, Petersburg and Bedford areas of Virginia. You must have legal eligibility to work on film productions in the state of Virginia, and that information can be downloaded from the following Actors Resource Guide available here. There is no experience necessary, and these are paid positions. Filming will take place from April 10, 2017 through May 5, 2017.

Both SAG-AFTRA members and non-union talent are welcome to submit.

• Seeking Background Actors to play Bus Passengers, Big City Folk, Small Town folk, Diner Regulars, Truck Drivers, and Beauty Salon Patrons.

• Native American Men and Women: Seeking All Ages, Types, and Sizes. Looking for interesting character faces.

• African American Men and Women: Seeking All Ages, Types, and Sizes. Looking for interesting character faces.

• Caucasian Men and Women: Seeking All Ages, Types, and Sizes. Looking for interesting character faces.

• 2 year-old African American Twins: (Age at least 2+ years) Male or Female Identical Two year old Twins for featured role.
