Lead role open casting call Fox Searchlight film ‘JoJo Rabbit’

Academy Award nominee Taika Waititi is directing the upcoming Fox Searchlight feature film “JoJo Rabbit,” and has scheduled an open casting call on March 17, 2018 in Southend, UK. This is for a Caucasian boy, 10-11 years of age, to play a lead role in the film.

“JoJo Rabbit” is a World War II comedy drama, written by Waititi, and is a satire about a 10-year-old boy living in fascist Germany who is trying to fit in with the help of an imaginary friend. After being severely hurt by a grenade at a Hitler youth camp, the boy discovers that his mother is hiding a fifteen year old Jewish girl in their house.

Taika Waititi has been riding a wave of success since his last film, “Thor: Ragnarok,” smashed box-office records worldwide. His name has even been linked with future Star Wars movies, with Disney’s Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy saying she’d “love for him to direct a Star Wars movie.”

To be cast in this project, all talent are required to be legally eligible to work in the entertainment industry in London and in the United Kingdom, where filming will take place. The London Actors Resource Guide eBook contains the information and documents for talent who would like to work on film and productions in London and the United Kingdom. All Actors Resource Guide eBooks are available here.

CAUCASIAN BOY – 10-11 years of age, quirky working class type, preferably small for his age, with a distinctive, characterful face. This is for an informal brief chat on-camera, and no audition will take place at this open casting call. No previous acting experience is necessary, and the boy cast in this role will be paid very well.
