Ruby Films and Benaroya Pictures are in pre-production on the indie feature film “Your Voice in My Head”, and the casting directors have sent out casting calls for lead and supporting roles. Although shooting will take place in New York City, principal actor casting is taking place in talent-rich Los Angeles for the starring roles. Additional casting for general extras and featured background actors will take place in New York throughout production. “Your Voice in My Head” is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed Emma Forrest memoir. Principal photography gets underway on November 4, 2013.

“Your Voice in My Head” centers on British-American journalist Emma Forrest. In a story based on true events and set against the backdrop of the 2008 Presidential race, Emma is a young British expat living in New York City and volunteering for the Obama campaign while she struggles to break free of a toxic relationship and make sense of her Bipolar disorder. Emma finds herself in the chair of a thin, balding, and gifted psychotherapist, Dr. Rosecan – who would wrench her from the dangerous tide after she tried to end her life. When Dr. Rosecan dies shockingly at the age of fifty-three, Emma drifts and her romantic relationship also falls apart. Emma is forced to cling to the page for survival and regain her footing on her own terms.

Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize winner Francesca Gregorini will direct “Your Voice in My Head” from an adapted screenplay written by Emma Forrest herself. Gregorini is an Italian-American director who co-directed the coming of age independent film “Tanner Hall” with Tatiana von Furstenberg. That film is loosely based on their own experiences during adolescence, with fictional events intertwining the story. Gregorini recently produced, wrote, and directed the 2013 feature film “The Truth About Emanuel” starring Jessica Biel.

Academy Award nominee Alison Owen will produce for Ruby Films, where she is Founder and Managing Director. Owen’s Oscar nod came for producing the 1998 film “Elizabeth” starring Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush. She also won a Primetime Emmy Award for executive producing the 2010 HBO movie “Temple Grandin” starring Claire Danes and Julia Ormond. Also producing “Your Voice in My Head” is Independent Spirit Awards winner Michael Benaroya of Benaroya Pictures. International Film Trust (IFT), the recently-launched division of Benaroya Pictures, is selling the project internationally in Toronto. CAA is repping domestic rights.
