Disney Theatrical Productions/Buena Vista Theatrical Group is holding open casting calls for “The Lion King” on Broadway and for a new touring production.

The auditions will take place at the Screenland Studios in Los Angeles, CA and at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. The roles being cast are for children to play the African lion cubs Simba and Nala, adults to play the roles of Simba and Shenzi, adult male and female singers, and adult male and female dancers. Rehearsals will begin September 5, 2017 in New York City, with touring dates to be determined. All talent must be legally eligible to work in the entertainment industry in New York, and that information can be found in the New York Actors Resource Guide eBook.

For all auditions, bring your picture and resume, stapled together.

The Lion King Open Auditions & Casting Calls

All auditions on April 27, April 28, May 3rd, and May 4th will be held at the Screenland Studios in Los Angeles. The auditions on May 6th will be held at the ACT Conservatory in San Francisco.

Auditions on this day are for adult males and females with strong singing skills, who move well, to be in the ensemble and to cover or replace lead roles. Please prepare your best 16 bars (approximately 30 seconds – with sheet music) of a R&B, pop, or rock-and-roll song that best showcases your voice and range. Do NOT sing material from “The Lion King” or any standard Broadway theater music. A pianist will be provided.

If you are unable to attend the open auditions on this day, you can submit a homemade audition video by email. Submit an email containing the following:

-Video link of yourself singing your best 16 bars (approximately 30 seconds – with sheet music) of an R&B, pop or rock-and-roll song that best showcases your vocal range.
-Do not sing material from THE LION KING or standard Broadway theater music.
-DO NOT include a video file as an attachment. Include a link from either YouTube or Vimeo.
-Your current headshot and resume as PDF attachments.

Auditions on this day are for children between 9-12 years of age, 52″ – 58″ in height, who can sing, dance and act to play the African lion cubs Simba and Nala. Children of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend. No performance experience necessary. Be prepared to be taught the last verse of “Just Can’t Wait to be King.” All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents or guardians must remain at the audition site at all times. Please be prepared to wait. Minimum weekly salary is $2,168.22 and is subject to applicable state laws regarding trust funds for minors. Trust fund information can be found in the Actors Resource Guides.

If you are unable to attend the open auditions on this day, you can submit a homemade audition video by email. Submit a link to your video submission with the Young Simba or Young Nala songs and scenes. Please include contact information on your submission.

Please wear form-conscious clothing appropriate for dancing, plus flat jazz shoes or bare feet. You may be asked to sing, so please bring a contemporary song that shows off your voice and range. Bring sheet music.
