Jersey Boys Auditions and Casting Calls

AB Media Publishing, LLC

The powerhouse film production company GK Films is in pre-production on the major musical feature film “Jersey Boys” based on the hit Broadway musical “Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Vallie & The Four Seasons”. The Casting directors for the film are auditioning talent for lead and supporting roles. Filming begins in August, 2013 and will take place in Los Angeles. The stand-ins for the film’s stars will be hired closer to shooting, and the extras will be cast throughout production.

This film was originally set up at Warner Bros. Pictures, however the studio put the project in turnaround in November, 2012. Turnaround simply means that the studio developing the movie has decided to drop it. The film rights can legally be picked up by another producer or movie studio, granted that the studio pays back the costs incurred by the first studio, plus interest. In this case, Clint Eastwoods’ Malpaso Productions will produce. “Jersey Boys” was to be shot in Philadelphia and open casting calls took place there and in New York for the lead roles back in August, 2012. New casting directors have been hired and casting has started over from scratch.

“Jersey Boys” tells the story of Frankie Vallie and the other members of the pop sensation group The Four Seasons” during their rise to superstardom. The stage musical opened on Broadway in 2005, and has since had a North American National Tour, along with productions in London’s West End, Las Vegas, Chicago, Toronto, Melbourne, Sydney, Philadelphia, Auckland and Brisbane. It has held hundreds of performances to date. An international tour with an all South African cast is scheduled to open at Artscape Cape Town from June 19, 2013.

Four-time Academy Award winner Clint Eastwood will direct the big screen adaption of the Tony Award winning Broadway documentary-style musical from a screenplay written by three-time Academy Award nominee John Logan. Jon Favreau was originally set to direct. Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice wrote the book that the play was based on. Some of Logan’s credits include “Gladiator,” “The Aviator,” “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” “Rango,” and “Hugo”.

Academy Award winning executive of GK Films, Graham King, will produce “Jersey Boys” with Tim Headington. A few notable GK Films produced movies are “The Town,” “Argo,” and the recently completed “World War Z”. Frankie Valli and fellow The Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio are executive producing. “Jersey Boys” will use much of the music from the Broadway play, with such songs as “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll,” Oh What a Night,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”.
