Arclight Pictures and Stoney Lake Entertainment are set to begin shooting on the upcoming epic action sci-fi thriller feature film “Left Behind” based on the best-selling novel “Left Behind: A Novel of the Earth’s Last Days” by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Casting is now underway in Los Angeles for the film’s starring and co-starring roles. Additional principal actor roles will be cast in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where shooting will take place beginning on August 5, 2013 and will continue through September 12, 2103. The stand-ins and photo-doubles for the film’s stars, as well as extras and featured background actors, will also be cast in Baton Rouge. The interior shots will be filmed at Celtic Media Centre, the same studio where “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” was filmed. Film crew and production personnel resumes are also now being accepted.

The movie tells the story of an apocalyptic disaster where millions upon millions of people suddenly and mysteriously disappear leaving behind their clothes, wedding rings, eye glasses and shoes in crumpled piles. Panic around the globe ensues, as the beginning of the end of time has arrived – The Rapture. A young lady named Chloe Steele is one of those still remaining on earth, and she must somehow find a place for her pilot father to land the jet he’s flying and save the passengers on board. Buck Williams is an award winning news reporter who is on the flight, and becomes a love interest for Chloe.

Starring in “Left Behind” is Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage as 747 captain Ray Steele, a negligent father and lustful husband with a roving eye, on the verge of an affair with his senior flight attendant, Hattie Durham. MTV Movie Awards winner Ashley Tisdale stars as Ray Steele’s daughter Chloe, who is a college student and very skeptical of Christianity. Four-time Teen Choice Awards winner Chad Michael Murray is portraying the celebrated journalist Buck Williams, who is a senior writer for Global Weekly, a prestigious weekly news magazine.

Academy Award winner Vic Armstrong is directing “Left Behind” from an adapted screenplay written by John Patus and Paul Lalonde. Armstrong is widely accepted as the world’s most prolific Stunt Double/Stunt Coordinator ever, and is a recipient of the prestigious World Stunt Awards Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as a BAFTA award. His stunt double credits include “Superman” for Christopher Reeve, “Indiana Jones” for Harrison Ford. He has served as second unit director on such blockbuster films as “The Green Hornet,” “Thor,” “The Amazing Spider-Man,” and the upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”.

Producing “Left Behind” is Stoney Lake Entertainment’s CEO Paul Lalonde and Michael Walker. LaLonde is founder of Cloud Ten Pictures, a production company based in Canada and New York that is known for producing inspirational Christian films. Stoney Lake is focused on producing big budget faith-themed films for a wider audience than Cloud Ten was producing. John Patus and Ed Clydesdale will co-produce. Executive producer is J. David Williams. Samuel Goldwyn Films will handle domestic distribution. “Left Behind” hits theaters in 2014.

Story:

An airborne Boeing 747 is headed to London when, without any warning, passengers mysteriously disappear from their seats. Terror and chaos slowly spread not only through the plane but also worldwide as unusual events continue to unfold. For those who have been left behind, the apocalypse has just begun. Without warning, hundreds of millions of people around the globe simply vanish – including every child. All that remains are their clothes and belongings and chaos and terror like never before. Suddenly unmanned vehicles crash and burn. Emergency forces everywhere are depleted. Gridlock, rioting and looting are rampant with no one to help or give answers. Hysteria breaks out as the living stare in disbelief and fear at the empty places where their loved ones were just seconds before. For Ray Steele (Nicolas Cage), the pilot of a jumbo jet, it means trying to calm his hysterical passengers who saw loved ones vanish before their eyes. It also means trying to land his damaged plane when every airport is jammed with burning wrecks and while wishing that he could talk to his family one last time. For Chloe (Ashley Tisdale), Ray’s daughter back on the ground, it means trying to find her younger brother who disappeared from her very arms. Fighting through a post-apocalyptic landscape, Chloe makes it home but her mom is gone too. Despair and rage rule the day. This is the rapture that God has planned as the first sign to begin the unraveling of the end of time.
