‘Alita: Battle Angel’ casting calls in Austin, TX

The 20th Century Fox feature film “Alita: Battle Angel” is currently filming in Austin, TX and the current extras casting needs are posted below.

Set in the 26th century, “Alita: Battle Angel” takes place 300 years after a societal collapse caused by a major war. But in that society, it’s a technological dark age following a pinnacle of achievement far, far beyond where we are right now. It’s a post-apocalyptic world from a very high level with cyborg technology as just a way of life. People are augmented a lot as workers and so on, so being a cyborg is not unusual. The main character is a cyborg. She has an organic human brain, and she looks like she’s about fourteen years old. She has a completely artificial body and she’s lost her memory she’s found in a wreckage and she’s reconstituted by a cyber-surgeon who becomes her surrogate father.

Behind the Voice Actors Awards nominee Rosa Salazar plays the lead role of Alita. Salazar had been filming her role as Brenda in the 20th Century Fox feature film “Maze Runner: The Death Cure”, however shooting has been delayed until after February, 2017 due to the injury suffered by Dylan O’Brien in March, 2016 during a stunt scene. Also starring in “Alita: Battle Angel” is Primetime Emmy Award nominee Mahershala Ali as Vector, two-time Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz as Dr. Dyson Ido, MTV Movie Award winner Ed Skrein as Zapan, and two-time Young Artists Award nominee Keean Johnson as Hugo.

Two-time ALMA Award winner Robert Rodriguez is directing “Alita: Battle Angel” from an adapted screeplay written by three-time Academy Award nominee James Cameron and Scream Award winner Laeta Kalogridis. The screenplay is based on the manga series “Alita: Battle Angel” by Japanese manga artist Yukito Kishiro. James Cameron is also producing along with Academy Award winner Jon Landau. Academy Award nominee David Valdes is serving as executive producer. “Alita: Battle Angel” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 20, 2018.
