A tragicomic look at the absurdity and necessity of love in the face of death. Carefree Marley Corbett (Hudson) has it all; a promising career, amazing friends, her pick of any man, and an extremely witty sense of humor. Though she feels her life is complete, she never lets herself experience love, preferring to keep her relationships light and easy. Julian Goldstein (Bernal) is a successful doctor who has grown a hardened exterior from years of being the bearer of bad news. His detachment prevents him from getting close to anyone. Marley and Julian’s first encounter leaves a lasting impression on both of them. For Marley, it is when she hears for the first time that she is sick. For Jeffrey, it is a realization that someone is still able to get through his tough exterior with nothing more than humor. With Marley’s news, she decides to embark on a new adventure in life, knowing that she must enhance her precious days. Marley’s relentless sense of humor shines through under even the worst circumstances. With her newfound confidence she begins dating Julian. They both find themselves in a situation they have never been before… falling in love.
