New Line Cinema and S&K Pictures in association with Big Kid Pictures are in pre-production on a new sequel in the “National Lampoon’s Vacation” franchise. This new film will begin shooting June 17, 2013 in New Mexico and Atlanta, GA. The Primetime Emmy award winning casting director is conducting a national talent search for young talent for several lead roles in the film. Being cast are two boys between 9-15 years of age to play the Griswold boys, Ed Helms’ kids. Also being cast is a pretty teen girl between the ages of 13-17. Self-taped video auditions will be accepted for talent outside of Los Angeles. The extras will be cast throughout filming in Atlanta and New Mexico.

In this new “Vacation,” Rusty Griswold is now a grown man who is married with two children of his own, James and Kevin. Upon discovering that Wally World will be closing down for good, Rusty decides to take the family on a trip to California, just as his father Clark did when he was a child. However, this time around Rusty fully expects to make the adventure an incident free trip across country. But with his older son James being sweet, intelligent, and sensitive – and the younger son Kevin being an obnoxious nightmare – the two opposites almost guarantee chaos. Throw in Grandpa Clark Griswold and Grandma Ellen Griswold to the mix, and you have a situation where all bets are off.

Starring in “Vacation” is Screen Actors Guild Awards winner Ed Helms playing the role of grown up Rusty Griswold. Helms starred as Andy Bernard in the hit NBC series “The Office” from 2006 through 2013. He is also very well known for playing the nerdy Dr. Stu Price in the blockbuster hit Warner Bros. Pictures “The Hangover” feature films. Returning in the role of laid back and mild mannered Clark Griswold is two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Chevy Chase, who played the character in four previous “Vacation” films. Golden Globe Award nominee Beverly D’Angelo is in talks to reprise her role as Clark’s wife Ellen. Christina Applegate has joined the cast as Mrs. Rusty Griswold.

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are directing “Vacation” from a screenplay that they wrote themselves. Goldstein is a comedy writer and Daley is an actor turned screenwriter. Among his many television series appearances, Daley played the series regular role of Dr. Lance Sweets on the hit Fox series “Bones” from 2007-2013. The two met on “The Geena Davis Show” when Goldstein was the executive story editor, and Daley was an actor playing Carter Ryan. The duo also wrote the Steve Carell-Jim Carrey magician comedy “Burt Wonderstone”. Next up for Goldstein and Daley is doing a rewrite of the “Secret Histories” script for Sony Pictures Animation. Chris Bender will produce, along with David Dobkin of Big Kid Films. Nan Morales will executive produce.
