Jerry Bruckheimer film ‘Horse Soldiers’ casting calls scheduled

Jerry Bruckheimer film ‘Horse Soldiers’ casting calls scheduled for New Mexico and Texas are open to adults of all ages, types, and ethnicities.

The true-story feature film “Horse Soldiers” will be casting thousands of roles, and several open casting calls have been scheduled for Texas and New Mexico. Shooting will take place in New Mexico from December 6, 2016 through mid-February, 2017. Experienced film crew members are also being hired and can submit resumes to the production office email below. To be considered, all talent must have legal eligibility to work in the entertainment industry in the state of New Mexico. Details below.

“Horse Soldiers” tells the dramatic account of a small band of Special Forces soldiers who secretly entered Afghanistan following 9/11 and rode to war on horses against the Taliban. Outnumbered forty to one, they pursued the enemy across mountainous terrain and, after a series of intense battles, captured the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, which was strategically essential if they were to defeat the Taliban. The bone-weary American soldiers were welcomed as liberators, and overjoyed Afghans thronged the streets. Then the action took a wholly unexpected turn. During a surrender of six hundred Taliban troops, the Horse Soldiers were ambushed. Dangerously outnumbered, they fought for their lives in the city’s immense fortress, Qala-i-Janghi, or the House of War. At risk were the military gains of the entire campaign: if the soldiers perished or were captured, the effort to defeat the Taliban might be doomed.

Starring in “Horse Soldiers” is BAFTA Awards nominee Chris Hemsworth playing the lead role of Special Forces captain Mitch Nelson. Also starring in the film is Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon, Screen Actors Guild Awards winner Michael Peña, and Trevante Rhodes. Two-time Directors Guild of America DGA Award winner Nicolai Fuglsig will direct “Horse Soldiers” from a screenplay written by Academy Award winner Ted Tally and Critics Choice Award nominee Peter Craig, based on Doug Stanton’s novel “Horse Soldiers: The Extraordinary Story of a Band of U.S. soldiers Who Rode to Victory in Afghanistan”

Ten-time Primetime Emmy Award winner Jerry Bruckheimer is producing “Horse Soldiers” under the banner of his production company Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Also producing are Black Label Media’s Trent and Thad Luckinbill, Chad Oman, and Molly Smith. Executive producers are Marty Funkhouser and Ellen H. Schwartz.
