The casting director is specifically looking for people that are over 18 years of age who are able to play roles that are 16-17 years of age. The reason this is often done in the entertainment industry is because of child labor laws. People under the age of 18 have restrictions on the number of hours they are legally allowed to work in one day. In addition, studios must have an on-set teacher for actors under the age of 18. Adults do not have these restrictions.

Lionsgate, Double Feature Films, and Mandate Pictures are in pre-production on the upcoming feature film 'LOL' starring Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore. Moore will play Miley Cyrus' mother in an American version of 2009 French hit L.O.L (Laughing Out Loud). Original filmmaker Lisa Azuelos will write and direct the Hollywood remake, about a high school teenager and her divorced mom as they attempt to get on with their lives after break-ups. Auditions are getting underway and there will be numerous roles for teens as well as teachers and parents.
The film will start shooting July, 2010 in Detroit. The extras will be cast in Detroit as well as some principal roles.
